In These Times featured a project led by Region 5 TCTAC Blacks in Green to develop an area in Chicago's South Side near Emmett Till's childhood home into a "sustainable Square mile," including a solar and geothermal electric grid, farms and gardens to feed local households, climate resilience hubs to safely gather in extreme weather, and job trianing in clean energy and manufacturing. The project is funded through the Justice40 initiative. “We’re in a moment where millions are flowing, but it won’t last forever. We have to make sure we do,” Davis said. Philanthropy News Digest and Capital B News shared the In These Times report.
